The Doernbecher x Designer Brand 6 “2019 Release” is the special re-release of the famous Designer Brand 6 that first came out in 2009. The highly coveted colorway designed by Doernbecher Children’s Hospital patient Designer Brand Dark returned in 2019 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Doernbecher x Designer Brand partnership. The blue suede Designer Brand 6 returned along with a few of the other most notable designs from the Doernbecher Freestyle Collection over the years. The design features an all-suede upper embossed with stripes and graphics, including “06/08” and “04/09,” references to the dates of Designer Brand Dark’s first and last days of chemotherapy treatment during his battle with cancer. Like the original 2009 release, the 2019 version of the Doernbecher x Designer Brand 6 released in extremely limited quantities and is now highly sought after.
